Sweet Home Alabama & Georgia Was On Our Mind

Another surprise we didn't think about,
was crossing the historic
in Selma, Alabama.
So much history here that we were speechless!

Scott enjoying a beautiful sunset.

Just off Interstate 85 we stayed at
Amity campground which is on the west side
of  West Point Lake.
It is located on the border of Alabama and Georgia.
If you are ever in this area we would recommend
staying here. Large spacious lots, quiet and it is
a Corps of Engineers park.

The town of Lanett has a Guthrie's Restaurant
so of course we had to go in and try the
chicken fingers and fries.
Crispy on the outside and juicy inside.
These are located in Macon, Georgia.

Since we are covering a lot of miles this year
the blog entries will be short. If you have time,

A short hike to the Earth Lodge.

A replica of what it would have looked like
one thousand years ago.
It was used as a ceremonial gathering place.
Lesser Temple Mound and Great Temple Mound.
As with most National Parks, it is well worth
your time to go into the visitor center.
They usually have a short video
and there were 1000's of artifacts on display.
We thought about going for a short hike
and then read the signs.
Neither of us think we can out run an alligator
at our age so we passed.
