Tucson Art

Another rough week for Scott.
He still has a sore throat and is now on his second round
of antibiotics. Thankfully he has started eating again.
We heard a news story about the Warehouse Art District
and thought we would take a road trip.
As you drive down the street this mural really jumps out at you!

This is the newest addition that was just finished
a few weeks ago.
We are blessed to live in the USA.

Amazing!
Art is all around. I love the artistic bridges in Tucson.
I don't have any pictures but each one is unique.

We have seen a few cactus starting to bud.
I can hardly wait to see the desert in bloom!

Aw Nuts!

Another relaxing sunny week!
Scott is feeling better but still naps daily.
It has been a long recovery.
For Valentine’s Day we visited The Green Valley Pecan Company.
They don’t have tours but here is an interesting video
about 5 minutes long.
While we were there they were trimming the trees.
Chocolate English Toffee and Honey Toasted Pecans
for my crazy nutty husband when his throat is better.

On the way home we stopped by Baskin Robbins.
Ice cream always helps a sore throat!

Besides water aerobics, I have been sorting through the
cupboards getting ready for a park wide sale on Saturday.
Didn’t I just do this about a year ago?

My sewing machine has been useful because
I was able to help a few gals alter some clothes,
made a valance and two head rest covers.

Girl time! I was invited to lunch with five other
ladies to a little cafe which has great food.

Our plans are to be in Iowa for August and we have
reservations for Labor Day weekend at Jester Park
in Des Moines, Iowa. Looking forward to catching up
with family and friends.

"I just clipped 2 articles from a current magazine.
One is a diet guaranteed to drop 5 pounds
off my body in a weekend.
The other is a recipe for a 6 minute pecan pie."

Short, Sick, Sunny & Sweet

Scott has been battling the flu this week.
Yes, we did get our flu shots in September.
Needless to say we haven’t been on any adventures.
Thankfully, he is feeling better but still weak.
Thanks for praying!
I kept busy with water aerobics. Every Monday
through Friday I walk down this street to the pool.
A great way to start the day and get to know
some women in the park.
Thursday I skipped aerobics and went "thrifting" with two gals.
We had a great time finding lots of “treasures”.
Then we attended the Ladies’ Tea in the afternoon at the
clubhouse and raised money for the local food bank.
Scott got out of the house on Friday afternoon
to run errands but he tired rather quickly.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

We received this housewarming gift
from a sweet couple who live in Minnesota.

"We're all a little weird. And life is a little weird.
And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible
with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually
satisfying weirdness - and call it love - true love."

Wineries, Wings, Feathers & Fur

Sonoita and Elgin are know for their many wineries.
It was a beautiful drive southeast of Green Valley.
Our first stop was Charron Vineyards & Winery which
has a great deck overlooking the vineyards and mountains.
A nice relaxing time with friends.
Can you imagine how beautiful this will look in the spring?
Just 30 minutes away you can see the different vegetation
and the absence of Saguaro as we climbed
in elevation through the rolling hills.
We encountered several Pronghorn antelope
grazing in the grassland.
Something unusual at our second stop in the Village-of-Elgin
was the peacock roaming around.
At our last stop we met the winemaker at Sonoita Vineyards.
She has lots of history to share because her Grandfather started the winery.
Everyone had a fun time.

Another day we went to the Pima Air & Space Museum in
Tucson. It is the third largest air and space museum in the world.
There are six indoor hangers and acres of planes.

390th Memorial Museum is
home of the B-17 Flying Fortress.
Plan to spend all day because it will take you
hours to see everything or purchase the two-day pass.

Doug, who is a neighbor, was our docent on the Boneyard Tour.
As a pilot, his love of airplanes is evident and he is extremely
knowledgeable about the many different kinds of aircrafts.

Speaking of flight, we have Hummingbirds
just two days after putting up our feeder!

"The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our
ancestors who... looked enviously on the birds soaring freely
through space... on the infinite highway of the air."
