to see while in Newport.

A beautiful day to do The Cliff Walk.

40 steps from a distance.
Easton's Beach
A few miles east in Massachusetts we stopped in
Hyannis and visited the JFK Museum.
Such a different time in politics.
Lots of family and boating photos.
A great place for the President to relax.
Famous rocking chair from 1962.
You can see the family history on the
genealogy wall which they keep current.
Herring Cove Point Beach
Yes, a fox walked right out in front of us!
Can you believe here is where
we stayed with Harvest Host?
Nauset Light Beach has nice soft sand and
we enjoyed relaxing here for several hours.

Do you remember PEZ candy dispensers?

We always find something to do, even on rainy days.
There is a PEZ Visitor Center in Orange, Connecticut.
792 dispensers greet you when you enter.
Here is a view from the second floor.
Yes, there are two levels to display all the PEZ
dispensers that have been made plus a gift shop area.
What dispenser did you have growing up?
They are still going strong today.
The ever popular Star Wars.
We didn't remember any trucks
but here is a case full of them.
Many sports related.
Animals, and of course Disney.
Sets
We couldn't photograph them all,
but this gives you an idea how large this collection is
and the appeal to kids and grown-ups.
They make it fun by giving you a BINGO card
to find certain ones and if you get a BINGO you
receive a prize.
Yes, a dispenser with a pack of candy.
PEZ is not just for kids!
On the second floor, besides more dispensers,
and an area where you can host birthday parties,
they have this chopper that was built by
the Orange County Choppers in 2006.
Remember the show "American Chopper"?

Trivia: The name PEZ comes from the German word
for peppermint, "pfefferminz" taking the P from the first letter,
E from the middle and Z from the last letter.

Hope this brought back some good memories!

New York City!

Famous skyline.
We took the advice from friends
and boarded the cruise from the New Jersey side,
which is less crowded, and headed to
Ellis Island.
Unbelievable what people had to endure
to immigrate to America.
This museum is very emotional and well designed
to accommodate the thousands of people
that come here everyday.
There she is!
Can't believe we made it to
the Statue of Liberty!
We drove around town to see some of the famous
sites like the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square,
Rockefeller Center, and the Empire State Building.
Had to have some New York Pizza from Brooklyn!
Thankfully, we picked up this pie
because we were stuck in traffic for hours!
At least we had something to eat.
There are food stands on almost every corner.
One of the many ways to get around town.

St. Patrick's Cathedral

We are amazed that we survived driving in New York City
without getting into an accident or hitting someone!
Talk about crazy drivers and
pedestrians walking out in front of you against lights.
Bicycles, rickshaws, scooters, weaving in and out of traffic,
honking all the time, turning from the wrong lane.
Glad we made the effort but this is a one and done city for us!

From Virginia to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Instead of going into Washington, D.C.
we headed east to,
Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel.

No vacancy!

We drove through Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey
then started our walking tour around Philadelphia.
A couple of the highlights were seeing the Liberty Bell,
touring Independence Hall and Old City Hall.
Independence Hall is in the middle,
on the right is Old City Hall.
We had to go through security,
just like at an airport, to get into all these places!
Independence Hall is where the
Declaration of Independence and the
 Constitution were debated and adopted
by the Founding Fathers.

So much history that it is hard to soak it all in.
Some original furniture,

and rug which is amazing to see hundreds of years later!
Wow! Didn't think we would see the ink well
used to sign the Declaration of Independence!
You have to have a Philly Cheesesteak
and a picture of Rocky when you go
to Philadelphia!
