The Sweet, Beautiful, Creative and Old!

While in Montpelier, Vermont we stopped at

Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks.

The Woodshed Theatre is where we

watched a video about the maple syrup process.

Toured the processing facilities

and were able to walk up to see the maze of plastic 

tubes which is the modern way of collecting sap.

You have come to expect the unusual from our blog. 

Morse Farm also had some unusual "art".

Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream Factory was

 only a few miles away. 

Of course, we enjoyed some yummy ice cream. 

We have seen lots of hanging flower

 baskets on porches, businesses and

light post in many small towns.

So pretty!

Taking back roads is where we find some interesting

things like the Texas Falls. A chance to 

stretch our legs and see a beautiful waterfall.

One of the reasons we love our campervan 

 is because it can fit just about anywhere. 

Thrilled to find a peaceful spot to camp, 

just south of Lake Placid.

North Creek is a small town in the Adirondack Mountains.

This cool mosaic project took 10 years and is 220 feet long. 

It depicts an ideal spring day in the Adirondack.

So fun and inviting,

 you just want to jump right in!

Amazing what can be accomplished

 when a community pulls together.

There were 2000 plus volunteers.

Do you need an idea on what to do with your old canoe?

More artistic talent along the backroads.

Never thought we would see a

490 million year old fossilized sea bottom!

Blessed Beyond Belief

 

When we started this trip all we had was a thumbnail

sketch of some places we would like to see. 

Canada was a hope but just not sure if we would 

make it there.

 Blessed to be able to travel this far. 

Here is how we were greeted in New Brunswick!

The warmer temperatures created the fog. 

As the day progressed the fog dissipated. 

Stopped in Saint John to see the 

Reversing Falls.

Living in Iowa for years and now in Arizona 

we don't deal with tides.  To learn more about it 

click on the link. Interesting!

Along the Bay of Fundy we followed the 

Fundy Trail Parkway which has lots of pull-offs 

so you are able to view the sandy beaches and

rock formations which make

for an interesting drive along the coast.

We stayed at a very nice couples house in Moncton

through Boondockers Welcome.

The next day on to Prince Edward Island.

We went to Charlottetown, which is the capital,

and stopped at Cow's Creamery.

It is famous for their cheeses

 but we went for the ice cream.

Did you know that they grow lots 

of potatoes there and you pick

 them up at road side stands?

Another fantastic Harvest Host location!

The Confederation Bridge is 8 miles long!

We watched a video about the process of building

 this amazing bridge. If you are interested, 

research and find out more about this engineering marvel.

Note: If you plan on going you don't pay your 

toll until you try to get off the island. 

 It was $50.25!

Fantastic way to be greeted at the 

Information Center on Nova Scotia.

 The World Famous Cabot Trail

 on Cape Brenton Island was fantastic!

        

It goes through Cape Brenton Highlands National Park.

Amazing views from the road!

Next stop was Peggy's Cove Lighthouse.
Notice the guy playing the Alphorn.

That was cool and unexpected!

The Curse of Oak Island?

Yes, we were able to drive onto the island!

The visitors center and island are closed

 because of Covid but we went for it 

and crossed the causeway. They were 

very nice and said we could take photos.

The team has met several times at Mug & Anchor

upstairs in the Old Mader's Wharf building.

We enjoyed having fish & chips on the back deck,

right under the blue umbrellas,

overlooking Mahone Bay. 

It was a "treasure" of a day for us!

Just a few miles south is the town of Lunenburg.

It is one of only two urban communities in

 North America designated as a UNESCO World Heritage

 site. The town has seventy percent of the original 

colonial 18th and 19th centuries buildings. 

A unique town that we were able to walk around

and visit some of the shops.  

We stayed in Liverpool at the Hank Snow Museum

 and didn't even know there was going to be 

a country music festival honoring him.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

in Boothbay, Maine.

Beautiful flowers!

A butterfly house.

And five giant trolls to find as you walk the 300 acres!

Scott's favorite troll is Birk because it reminds

 him of the "Keep on Truckin" character

from the late 60's. 

A great place for kids and adults. 

Stunning Lily in the pond area where kids 

can pull up a lobster trap and catch a "real" lobster.

The artist, Thomas Dambo,

 lives and works in Copenhagen.

He is a recycle art activist and his trolls

 are on the most significant attractions

 in Denmark and worldwide.

When you open the door you are surprised

to find shelves of little fairy houses.

My personal favorite is Soren because

it looks happy, and enjoying life. 

This is just a sneak peak of what you will see.

If you are in the area, definitely plan on

spending several hours enjoying this 

very unique garden. 

Here is the view of Bar Harbor, Maine

from on top of Cadillac Mountain. 

Acadia National Park

They have a great bus system around Acadia 

and it was so nice to have them do the driving! 

No parking hassles. 

We stopped in Southwest Harbor,

 checked out some shops, had lunch, and saw a bee 

on this interesting light purple flower. 

Zoom in to see the "pollen basket" on the hind leg. 

It was a busy bee 

because the baskets on each leg were full.

One of the cool things we did was hike the Bar Island Trail.

At low tide a gravel bar is exposed and

you can walk out to Bar Island.

 Don't stay too long or you are stuck there for 9 hours!

Once you are on the other side, 

the thing to do is build cairns 

that the tide might knock down.

Such a beautiful area of the country!
